One of the many pleasures of being a specialized environmental restoration company is working with others who share the common goal of returning our environment to its natural state and processes. Design and engineering firm Otak was essential to the implementation of natural design that enhanced and supported the natural ecosystem and processes of the river. Our common goal and background led to a design that was truly natural and beautiful.

The original design called for removal of significant amount of trees where a floodplain bench needed to be created to protect life and property. The shared value of the Estes Valley Watershed Coalition, Otak engineers, and L4 Environmental initiated a group solution that achieved required channel capacity while preserving more trees. Success means working with nature instead of against it.
